Construction Update 2017-04-2222 Apr 2017
Construction at a Glance
The bridge demolition on April 1st was a great success! Dufferin Construction would like to thank the public for cooperating and being patient through the sometimes very long lineups along the detour route. In the centre median, the footings for the pier were completed on April 12th and the concrete columns were poured on April 21st.
The footings for the overhead sign structures were completed April 21st. There will be two eastbound and two westbound and are scheduled to be installed late May-early June.
North of Highway 401, piling is taking place which will support the new abutment wall of the bridge. This will be completed during the week of April 24th.
South of the highway, the Veterans Memorial Parkway extension and Hwy 401 eastbound off and on ramps at VMP are currently being graded, and new pipe culverts are being placed under the ramps.
Coming up in late April/May 2017, the left lanes in both directions of Highway 401 will remain closed to allow the centre pier and barrier wall to be built. Piling will begin south of the highway, and the reconstruction of Wilton Grove Road at the VMP extension will be underway.
